Meta Tag Generator

Fill in the details and copy a ready-to-paste block of<head> tags — title, description, canonical, Open Graph and Twitter card.

How it works

Meta tags live in the<head> of your page and tell search engines and social networks how to describe and preview your page.

  • Title and description — the main search result text. The counters warn you when the title passes 60 characters or the description passes 160, where most search engines start truncating.
  • Canonical — points to the preferred URL when the same content is reachable at more than one address.
  • Open Graph and Twitter — control the preview card shown when your link is shared on social platforms.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a meta description be?

Around 150–160 characters. Longer text is usually cut off in search results, so put the important part first.

Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?

Most platforms read Open Graph. Twitter still prefers its owntwitter: tags for link cards, so both are included.

What should the canonical URL be?

The one address you want indexed, without tracking parameters. If the page has only one URL, use that URL.

What size should the image be?

1200 × 630 pixels is the standard Open Graph size. It works for Twitter cards as well.
